Experience

I have tutored students throughout my college years and became a certified tutor at Guilford College in 2015. I am a certified TESOL/TEFL instructor and have experience teaching English abroad. I love the process of learning and sharing what I have learned with others. As a tutor, I think it is important for students to have someone provide them with structure outside of the classroom that allows them to define their goals, develop excellent study skills, and focus on steady and constant improvement. Outside of my academic majors in college, I also have experience working for the sustainability department on campus. I worked to develop a green office program, which focused on an initiative to make the campus offices more sustainable with the cooperation of faculty and staff. I also spent two years working on the college farm, serving part of that time as the assistant manager, volunteer coordinator, and community gardens manager. I love bringing knowledge to the outdoors, and helping students make the broader connections between what they are learning in the classroom to the world around them. I also have experience traveling abroad, with extended stays in Costa Rica, India, and China. I have a basic knowledge of Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, and a great interest in helping people feel they can pursue a foreign language with confidence.
